We woke up to the rain hitting our tent. It sounded exactly like popcorn popping. About 5 am, we were all awakened for the day. It was early, but Tom and I were thankful Clara had again slept through the night without a peep. We decided to get up and get going. We packed up the tent and all our stuff to head west to the coast. Our destination was Florence, Oregon.
The drive was gorgeous. We started out in the Columbia River Gorge, then went through Portland, and then through the country, seeing many farms and wineries. The Cascade mountains were a spectacular backdrop to the wineries and quaint little towns.
We got to the coast and headed south on 101, right alongside the Pacific Ocean. We made it to our camp in Florence and headed to the beach. I was really excited to introduce Clara to the beach and see her reaction. The girl has no fear!! She was not fazed by the loud and powerful waves. She just wanted to get wet and play in the sand. Tom and I had a lot of fun running around the beach and playing with Clara.
After the beach, we stripped Clara down, and let her do one of her favorite things - drive. She loves to pretend she's driving and push all the buttons. Since our campsite was so close to the beach, Tom let her sit in his lap and drive the car.
That night we went to dinner in oldtown Florence at a seafood restaurant that sat on the mouth of the Siuslaw River.
