Day 2 - Multnomah Falls Hike, Larch Mountain

We started off Day 2 with a drive east to see more of the gorge. We came upon a little town called Bonneville with a restaurant open for breakfast. They had the best pancakes I've ever tasted! We were not planning on cooking at our campsite, mostly because we couldn't bring all the supplies on the airplane and we wanted to keep things as simple and easy as possible.

We had a great breakfast (yummm...those pancakes were awesome), overlooking the Columbia River right next to the Bridge of the Gods.

After Clara woke up from her nap, we headed back to Multnomah Falls where we had dinner the night before. We decided to do the 6 mile look up and around the falls. Wow - what an amazing place! We saw magnificent waterfalls, huge tall trees, and tons of lush greenery. Clara sat in the backpack and had a great time. She probably had the most scenic diaper change of her life! We ate some snacks a long the way and had a great time, but boy were we sore at the end!

Later on that afternoon, we met up with a sorority sister from my days at OSU. Katrina lives in Portland, has two kids, and takes full advantage of the Oregon outdoor opportunities. You can read more about these at her blog, Sipping Chardonnay. She met us up at the top of Larch Mountain. From the top, you can see 5 major mountains - Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Jefferson, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Rainier. It was gorgeous up there!
