Things are happening

When it rains, it pours...so the saying goes. There are so many things happening around the house these days. Today, we {finally!!} got our bedroom furniture in. Most of it anyways. Here is our bed and one nightstand. The other nightstand should be here in a couple weeks. Next thing we need, is a comforter set and window treatments. This room is in some desperate need of color!

We also decided to take the carpet out of the basement living area and do stained concrete instead. We are beginning to think about furnishing the room and putting in the mini-kitchen. The room is already plumbed for a sink and ice maker. We are going to have some cabinets built and have a mini fridge and microwave. The guys came today to rip out carpet, take up tack strips and also etch a tile pattern into the concrete. Next they will acid wash the concrete and apply several coats of stain and sealers. They should be done Saturday or Sunday.
The kitchen will go along the left hand wall above.

Can you see the tile lines etched in the concrete above?

We have all our plants and seeds in the garden. We have planted lots of different kinds of peppers, tomatoes, green beans, corn, cucumbers, zuccini, and okra. Clara and William watched as we planted everything. The chickens are doing well. They are all out in the coop now and getting bigger. No eggs yet. It will still be several more months before they will start laying.

It turned cold earlier this week and I put William in some overalls...next thing I know, Tom dressed Clara up to match! I loved it! It's so hard to find stores that make boy/girl clothes in similar patterns or collections, but I'm always looking.

Poor William...he isn't sure what his sister is going to do next.
